I describe woven design to people as doing the same puzzle over and over again, yet getting a different result each time. How do you take a technology that has been around for thousands of years and do something new with it? It is in this challenge that I find inspiration.
My experience covers both the fashion and home markets; woven, print, and knit design. I understand how to create a fabric, as well as how to decorate and finish its surface. I work on fabric constructions on a daily basis, tweaking weave structures, yarn sizes, densities, and fiber content. I also have expertise in both digital and screen/rotary print design, along with various dyeing and finishing techniques.
I pride myself not only on my ability to design original fabrics, but also on having the technical prowess to source and develop my creations. I have nurtured outstanding working relationships with some of the best mills around the world. Over the years, these collaborations have produced beautiful textiles I am honored to say I have had a hand in. By constantly challenging each other and the limits of the machinery, we are producing some of the most innovative goods on the market.
